Coach will drop off at Buttermere / bottom of Newlands Pass, close to the event day checkpoint at 9:00-9:15am and you will start running from there. There will be ‘guides’ available on the day, to help you navigate but as you are learning the route, you should be prepared to navigate. There will also be a rear sweeper.
If you do not require transport and you are heading straight to Buttermere, then you must ensure that you check in at the start (check in 9:00am). All other competitors will check in as they board the bus at Dalemain.
What Do I Need To Bring?
You need full kit as per race day guidelines. Please make sure your head torches are fully charged as some people may finish in the dark. You will also need map and / or road book to help you navigate. Paper versions and other route details are available HERE
General Information
You must make sure you sign in at all the checkpoints on the recce route, there are also cut offs in place for each checkpoint. YOU MUST ensure that you check in at each checkpoint AND AT THE FINISH. If you simply go home, we will presume you are missing.
Braithwaite – Cut off 2.5 hours from start
Blencathra – Cut off 5 hours from start
Dockray – Cut off 8 hours from start
Check in system
3 days before the recce, you will be sent an email with a barcode / QR code. You need to either print that barcode or just take a screen shot and save it on your phone. When you board the buses, we will scan your barcode which records you as ‘started the run’. At each of the checkpoints, you need to scan you barcode (volunteers will have a hand held device). If you do not scan at the checkpoint, we will presume you are missing and lost. You MUST scan in at the end of the run, the finish location will be the Dalemain House car park.
Emergency contacts
If you experience any major injury that prevents you from carrying on then you must contact 999 and then the organisers. If you are unsure of your location, then contact the organiser first as they will be able to help the paramedics pinpoint your location. The emergency phone number is 07494 029628 – PLEASE SAVE THIS NUMBERS TO YOUR PHONE.
